ART-DECOR® – Release 3.9.3 ​

Release notes 11 November 2025

Introduction ​

We are delighted to announce Release 3.9.3. As we are continuously busy to offer / deliver high quality software, we have decided to have another intermediate release that fixes 26 issues we found during intense regression testing and due to client/user reports.

In total, 44 tickets were handled. This is the Release Note with more details.

General Remarks ​

As a summary, this release focuses on the following major topics: enhancements in the area of

Dataset ​

A feature was developed to add arrows for moving Concepts in a Dataset Concept List, aligning with existing mechanisms in questionnaires and the Value Set Editor [AD30-2096].

Inserting dataset concepts in a dataset element containment group was by accident possible from a frontend perspective but illegal; this has been fixed [AD30-2157, AD30-2158].

Further achievements on Datasets ​

  • We added support for Identifier association on inherited concepts which was missing in Release 3 so far [AD30-1997]
  • FHIR Export of ART-DECOR Datasets to FHIR Logical Models was improved, see also this release note [AD30-2148]
  • GET dataset with treeonly=true returned incomplete data, this has been fixed [AD30-2176]
  • Dataset containing de-contains creates contains + other element(s) which was fixed [AD30-2213]

Server Admin Functions ​

A Server General and Integrity Check was added to the set of Server Management Functios [AD30-2193]. This function checks the whole server for integrity and produces reports. At this point in time there are them following checks performed:

  • Detect duplicate Datasets with same identification (id and effectiveDate) which is not allowed
  • Detect duplicate Code Systems with same id (oid) in the code system stable terminology branch which is not allowed
  • Detect "contain" elements in Datasets with other sibling elements than "comment" which is not allowed

All findings are presented without a report, just the results are displayed as shown below.

Further achievements on Server Admin Functions ​

  • Additional tests were added to the inital set of the Generic and Integrity Check, see details above (project-wide / server-wide) [AD30-2189]
  • Server Management tabs had all the same icons, this was changed [AD30-2190]
  • Documentation was added for System Admin Function Panel Integrity Check [AD30-2199]

Questionnaires ​

Questionnaires Editor got enhancements when editing answerOptions [AD30-2152]. There may be EITHER a set of answerOptions OR an answerValueSet, corresponsing ADD buttons are disabled now. An info text for more wisdom was added: Either Answer Options or Answer Value Sets can be specified for an item. They will both be shown only in edit mode to be maintained and shown in normal mode only if they are defined.

Answer Options now support the following types: valueString, valueDate, valueTime, valueInteger and display them now in an adequate way (see example below).

  • FHIR Questionnaire markdown conversion was improved [AD30-2171]

Publications and ART-DECOR Release and Archive Manager ADRAM ​

Unit options in a Questionnaire weren't shown in HTML publications. This has been added to be displayed as follows [AD30-2151]

Further achievements on Publications ​

  • Add issue-links in release note on publication page in AD3 [AD30-1947]
  • HTML publication of Questionnaires has incorrect link [AD30-2055]
  • DECOR2html.xsl useLocalAssets1 parameter was no longer respected, this is now re-introduced [AD30-2174]
  • FHIR in html release Questionnaire XML and JSON do not work [AD30-2184]

Further achievements on ADRAM ​

  • Revise ADRAM functions to make them independent from the art package (de-art) [AD30-2146]
  • An ADRAM script bug about an omitted package import was fixed [AD30-2226]

Scenario/Transaction ​

  • A bug was fixed where a Transaction care view did not load, throwing error: element has more than one attribute 'xml:dummy-1 [AD30-2192]

Concept Maps ​

  • The routes for Concept Maps in the frontend were renamed from concept-maps to conceptmaps [AD30-2180]
  • Concept Maps Extracts in JSON were missing a "root" element, this has been fixed [AD30-2183]

Terminology ​

  • A problem in the LOINC terminology pipeline was fixed that raised with version LOINC 2.81 [AD30-2159]
  • Valueset usage on valueset API call was done without prefix which was in error and is fixed now [AD30-2165]
  • Some SNOMED annotations were missing, the pipeline was fixed in that regard [AD30-2173]
  • An accept-header problem was fixed for RetrieveValueSet.xquery In case of format paramete "xml" or "svs(old)" or "mdibagch" [AD30-2206]
  • An accept-header problem was fixed for RetrieveCodeSystem formats "csv" and "sql" [AD30-2208]
  • An error was thrown for the SNOMED AD3 browser The cardinality parameter 4 does not match adterminology:getConceptForLanguages which was fixed [AD30-2228]

Templates ​

  • In ART-DECOR Release 2 Template references where rendered as a link to the actual Template (if possible), this missing feature for Release 3 was added [AD30-2167]

Testing and Validation ​

  • A discussion was lead about phases emitted in schematron and tested [AD30-2179]

Project ​

  • Copyright edit did not work if copyright was empty, this has been corrected [AD30-2142]
  • The parameter "release" in the Project Index for Value Sets was missing and added [AD30-2204]

Performance, Stability, Software Development / Tools features ​

A number of fixes were applied to various area of the app.

  • API minor fixes in the swagger definition for templates [AD30-2021]
  • Roaster 1.10 did break API code, this was fixed in collaboration with our database eXist Solution partners [AD30-2140]
  • Vue updated: package.json needed an update [AD30-2155]
  • Update handling of space-delimited query parameters [AD30-2156]
  • The use of the "seetype" parameter was corrected [AD30-2162]
  • Duplicate function getValueSetExpansionSet was eliminated [AD30-2175]
  • A bug in util-template-lib.xqm was fixed [AD30-2194]
  • A bug in links on Project Index when on a version was fixed [AD30-2196]
  • Issues when exporting FHIR XML and JSON for StructureDefinition on development release were fixed [AD30-2215]
  • A specific Value Set Expansion action brought one of our server to its knees, this was retested [AD30-2051]

Hints for Updating an ART-DECOR® Release for local installations ​

For all our hosted servers we do planned and announced updates of the server software regarding backend and frontend, comprised of ART-DECOR Vue and ART-DECOR http-proxy.

Outlook ​

Current development is heading towards Release 3.10 which focuses on further enhancements and features for Questionnaire Management. We might have an intermediate minor release 3.9.4 in between. We are also working hard on our new FHIR Profile Editor utilizing FHIR Shorthand (FSH), here a sneak preview.

At the same time we are currently also working on the ART-DECOR Release 4 series. This will imply a big update on the frontend as we switch to Vue 3, also the backend will make use of the new eXist-db Database Release v6.4.0.
